TO THE PRINCE HALL FAMILY:

The Prince Hall Grand Lodge Scholarship Committee will be having two raffles to increase the total amount of scholarships that will be given out next year during Grand Lodge at the Algie Odham luncheon. The goals of the Scholarship Committee are to maintain the current level of scholarships but increase the dollar amounts; and to select a youth entering his/her Freshman’s year and provide a scholarship to him/her each year throughout the entire four (4) years of college.

The first raffle is a fully restored customized 1980 Chevy Caprice. Raffles tickets are $10.00 each and the drawing will be held on February 26, 2012 during the Prince Hall Grand Lodge Black History Program. The benefits of this fundraiser are two-fold; it increases the money for our Scholarship fund, and your Lodge/Chapter gets to keep one-fourth (1/4) of all tickets sales. Your Lodge/Chapter keeps $2.50 of every ticket sold. The prizes awarded on February 26, 2012 will be:

1st place – Car
2nd Place – $500
3rd Place – $250
Additional prizes of $10 for five (5) random drawings will also be awarded

I am asking each Lodge/Chapter to support this fundraiser. The deadline for submission of unsold tickets and money to your Scholarship committee member is February 1, 2012.

REP. KLINKER RECEIVES HUMANITARIAN AWARD

INDIANAPOLIS–State Rep. Sheila Klinker (D-Lafayette) was presented with the Humanitarian Award by Floyd Lodge #23, Free and Accepted Masons Prince Hall Grand Lodge Jurisdiction of Indiana at the Lodge’s annual banquet Nov. 12.
Floyd Lodge #23, located in Lafayette, honored Klinker during its 47th Annual Banquet at the Best Western Hotel in Lafayette.
“These honorable men are among Lafayette’s finest citizens,” said Klinker. “They give back so much to our community through events, like the Lodge’s annual ‘Ol’ Skool Bar-B-Que’ that benefits the Hanna Community Center. The Lodge has held that great event every summer for more than two decades.
“These patriotic gentlemen are family men who set examples for others through the integrity of their words and deeds,” continued Klinker. “For 120 years, Floyd Lodge Number 23 has contributed to the building of our city and county. I am deeply honored to be recognized for my work in the Indiana General Assembly and the community by the men of Floyd Lodge Number 23.”

Wilson Lodge #12 and Amaranth Chapter #35 Pre-Thanksgiving Dinner

Pre-Thanksgiving Dinner November 16, 2010

Members of Wilson Lodge #12, F. & A.M. and Amaranth Chapter #35, O.E.S. in Marion combined their efforts to help brighten the Thanksgiving Season for residents of the Prince Hall Housing Complex who will enjoy fond memories of the Holiday knowing they were not forgotten though some may be currently having financial difficulties. Brother Otis Dodson, Right Worshipful Deputy Grand Master of Prince Hall Grand Lodge as well as Worthy Patron of Amaranth Chapter had challenged both organizations last year to think of ways for the local Lodge and Chapter members to work together and do more than individually donate holiday boxes to a few families as had been the usual practice in the past. Dodson is also the Managing Agent for the Complex and arranged for the distribution of questionnaires to residents to assess whether a need existed and how many would be interested in celebrating an early Thanksgiving Dinner together in their spacious community room. As of last Wednesday eighty-five persons had said “yes”. Lodge and Chapter members shopped, prepared the food, and served approximately one hundred individuals a delicious Noon meal consisting of grilled turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls, and homemade cobblers on Tuesday, November 16. Because of the positive feedback of the residents, this may become an annual event providing the Fraternal Family with a way to give back to their community. Pictured during the dinner are some of the residents, Lodge and Chapter members. Edgar Price is the Worshipful Master of Wilson Lodge and Claudette Casey is Worthy Matron of Amaranth Chapter.
